Gluten & Dairy Free Lemon & Poppyseed Breakfast Cereal

I really enjoy making my own cereal – makes a nice change from baking cakes! I’m always experimenting with new flavours and lemon and poppyseed is one of my favourite muffins so I thought I would try and make it into a cereal. Think my next homemade cereal will be a Christmas flavoured granola – coming soon.




  • 225g gluten free oats
  • 40g gluten free plain flour
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 3 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 120ml honey
  • 60g coconut oil


  1. Preheat the oven to 160 oC
  2. In a large bowl mix together the oats, flour, lemon zest and poppy seeds
  3. In a small pan place the lemon juice, honey and coconut oil
  4. Gently heat until melted and mixed together
  5. Pour into the dry ingredients and mix until the oats are coated
  6. Spread out on a baking tray and bake for 15 minutes
  7. Stir oats and return to the oven for another 15 minutes
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool
  9. Store in an airtight container
