A beautiful sponge cake packed with little bits of chocolate and peanut topped with rich and creamy chocolate frosting – and all gluten and dairy free.

Chocolate and Peanut Cake (Gluten & Dairy Free)

Difficulty: Beginner Servings: 8 Best Season: Suitable throughout the year


For the cake:

For the topping:


  1. Preheat the oven to 160 oC

  2. Grease and line an 8″ round cake tin

  3. Beat together the dairy free spread and caster sugar

  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time

  5. Stir in the flour

  6. Blitz the chocolate and peanuts in a blender or chop into tiny pieces

  7. Stir in the peanut and chocolate mix

  8. Pour into a cake tin and bake for 40 minutes

  9. Remove from the oven and cake tin and allow to cool completely before frosting

  10. Beat together the icing sugar, cocoa powder and dairy free spread until light and fluffy

  11. Cut the cake in half and sandwich the cakes together with half the frosting

  12. Spread the rest on top of the cake and top with the ground peanuts and grated chocolate
