Hello everyone, today’s recipe is for Gluten and Dairy Free Caramelised Onion Hummus. I can’t believe how much hummus I’ve eaten since I found out I was intolerant to dairy, it’s the perfect substitute for all those dairy loaded dips. As it is something I buy a lot I thought I would have a go at making some.

This recipe works perfectly with some shredded roast chicken and a gluten free pitta bread for dipping.  I’ve also used hummus in the place of crushed avocado with some poached eggs for breakfast.

Hummus is so easy to make at home with a few simple ingredients. Try my recipe for Gluten and Dairy Free Caramelised Onion Hummus.



  1. Caramelise the onions and garlic in a saucepan over a medium heat, this takes about 10 minutes. The onions should be soft and golden but not crispy.

  2. Add all the ingredients into a blender and blitz until smooth. If the humous is too thick add more olive oil or water.
