- The world’s largest whoopie pie was created in South Portland Maine on March 26, 2011, weighing in at 1,062 pounds
- The town of Dover Foxcroft, has hosted the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival since 2009, it has around 7,500 visitors per year

Whoopie Pies (Gluten & Dairy Free)
Ingredients
For the sponge:
For the buttercream:
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180ºC

Whisk together the caster sugar, egg, vegetable oil and milk

Stir in the flour, baking powder and cocoa

Line a couple of baking sheets with parchment paper

Drop 24 individual tablespoons onto the baking sheets

Bake in the oven for 12 minutes

Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely

Make the buttercream by beating together the icing sugar, cocoa powder and dairy free spread

Use the frosting to sandwich together the whoopie pies
