Hello everyone, missing Chinese then try my latest at home ‘takeaway’ recipe for Gluten Free and Dairy Free Easy Szechwan Prawns. I’m super lucky that my local Chinese has a few gluten free options on their menu so I don’t feel like I’m missing out. I usually go for some sticky ribs and szechwan chicken with plain rice.

I like to have a go at making these types of dishes at home. Usually because I make them a bit healthier and I’m always trying to cut down on takeaways (and usually failing). As I’m sitting writing this I’m enjoying a delicious big bowl of chicken and vegetable satay noodles. I’ll add this recipe to my to do list to photograph and add into the website.

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 1 pepper (diced)
  • 3 garlic clove (minced)
  • For the sauce:
  • 4 tablespoons boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon tamari
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon chilli flakes
Instructions
  1. Heat the olive oil in a shallow saucepan over a medium heat

  2. Stir in the onion, pepper, garlic and saute for 5 minutes

  3. Add in the prawns and cook for 2 minutes

  4. Stir together all the ingredients for the sauce and pour into the pan over the prawns

  5. Cook for a couple of minutes until thickened

  6. Serve over rice
