Gluten,Dairy and Egg Free ‘Buttermilk’ Sultana Buns

serves 6


  • 240ml dairy free milk
  • 10ml lemon juice
  • 250g gluten free self raising flour
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 85g dairy free spread
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spice
  • 80g sultanas


  1. Preheat the oven to 180 oC
  2. Mix together the dairy free milk and lemon juice, leave for 10 minutes to thicken into a dairy free version of buttermilk
  3. In a large bowl mix together the flour, caster sugar and mixed spice
  4. Rub in the dairy free spread until it resembles bread crumbs
  5. Stir in the buttermilk and sultanas
  6. Divide the dough into 6 and place on a lined baking sheet
  7. Bake in the centre of the oven for 20 minutes
  8. Allow to cool before enjoying
