Gluten and Dairy Free Dressed Crab

As I’m cooking Christmas dinner for my family this year I’ve been trialling a few options for starters. The other day I picked up some dressed crab shells and made this delicious starter in minutes. It uses both the white and brown crab meat with the taste of fresh lemon and herbs.




  • 4 dressed crab shells (shells are cleaned out and the meat cooked)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons dill
  • 2 teaspoons chives
  • salt and pepper for seasoning
  • large handful of rocket
  • gluten free oatcakes


  1. Scoop out the crab meat
  2. Stir the mayonnaise and dill into the crab meat
  3. Season with salt and pepper
  4. Spoon back into the shells and sprinkle on the chives
  5. Serve with the rocket, a lemon wedge and the oatcakes
