Gluten and Dairy Free Chocolate Donuts with Cinnamon Sugar

I have a real sweet tooth as you have probably worked out from the amount of cakes I have on the website. I love a donut and decided to have a go at making a gluten and dairy free chocolate donut. You can top them with whatever you like, I went with cinnamon sugar. I had this for a weekend breakfast treat along with my almond milk cappuccino.

I’m working on a baked donut recipe if you are not a fan of frying.





  1. Add all the ingredients for the donuts into a bowl and beat for 5 minutes to activate the yeast
  2. Cover the bowl with cling film and leave to rise in a draft free warm place for 60 minutes
  3. Roll out to about 1/2″ thick on a piece of baking paper
  4. Cut out 9 circles, then stamp out a small hole in the middle
  5. Place on a baking sheet, cover and leave to rise for 30 minutes
  6. Mix a little sugar with the cinnamon
  7. Heat a deep pan with about a cup of oil until it is about 180 oC
  8. Fry each donut for about 1 minute on each side
  9. Remove from the oil and toss in the cinnamon sugar
