Gluten and Dairy Free Caramelised Onion Humous

  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, for caramelising the onions
  • 240g cooked chickpeas
  • 1/2 tablespoon tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 30ml olive oil
  • salt and pepper for seasoning


  • Caramelise the onions and garlic in a saucepan over a medium heat, this takes about 10 minutes. The onions should be soft and golden but not crispy.
  • Add all the ingredients into a blender and blitz until smooth. If the humous is too thick add more olive oil or water.
