Gluten and Dairy Free Yellow Split Pea Soup

Yellow Split Pea Soup

  • 2 onions diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 4 slices smoked bacon diced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 250 g yellow split peas
  • 1250 ml vegetable stock
  • salt and pepper for seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons basil


  • Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large pan over a medium heat
  • Add the onions, bacon, garlic, basil and paprika and sauté for 5 minutes
  • Wash the yellow split peas and add to the pan
  • Stir in the stock and bring to the boil
  • Simmer on a low heat for an hour
  • Add more stock if the soup is too thick
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper
  • Blend until smooth then divide between four bowls
