Gluten and Dairy Free Apple & Rhubarb Crumble

For the base:

  • 4 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and diced
  • 500g rhubarb, cut into chunks
  • 6 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

For the crumble topping:

  • 125g caster sugar
  • 200g gluten free plain flour
  • 120g dairy free spread
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, optional


  1. Place the apples, rhubarb, caster sugar and lemon juice in a large pan
  2. Cook over a medium heat until the apples and rhubarb are tender, about 20 minutes
  3. Pour into a 2 litre casserole dish
  4. Preheat the oven to 180 oC
  5. Place the flour, caster sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl and stir together
  6. Rub in the dairy free spread until it resembles breadcrumbs
  7. Pour over the fruit
  8. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown
