Gluten & Dairy Free Chilli Garlic Chicken

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 chicken breasts diced
  • 1 red onion diced
  • 1 yellow pepper diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese 5 spice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 250 ml chicken stock
  • 3 tbsp BBQ sauce double check it is gluten free
  • 2 tsps chilli sauce like Sriracha you can swap with a red chilli
  • 2 tbsps gluten free soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • salt and pepper for seasoning


  • Place the olive oil to a saucepan over a medium heat
  • Add in the chicken, onions, peppers, garlic, Chinese 5 spice and ground cinnamon
  • Saut√© for 5 minutes
  • Whisk together the chicken stock, BBQ sauce, chilli sauce and soy sauce
  • Pour into the pan with the chicken and vegetables
  • Dissolve the cornflour in 2 tablespoons of water and pour into the pan
  • Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes or until the sauce has thickened and the chicken cooked
  • Serve with rice and some extra chilli sauce
