I'm obviously an advocate for home cooking as I run a recipe blog but even…
When I was down at the Allergy & FreeFrom Show in London in July I was chatting to the guys at Ilumi World and they were super excited to show me their new noodle snack pots which would be launching in October. Being someone who lives a busy life any gluten and dairy free product that is quick and easy sparks my interest.
Well here we are in October and I was delighted when the Ilumi team got in touch to ask me if I would like to try the new noodle snacks pots, of course I jumped at the chance. So in the name of gluten and dairy free research I thought I would share my findings with you guys.
The noodle snack pot comes in four flavours (of which 3 are vegetarian) and are free from gluten, dairy and eggs – I’ve included the ingredients for each one below so you can have a look:
Singapore Rice Noodle Snack Pot:

Tom Yum Rice Noodle Pot:
Rice Noodles 67% [Rice Flour, Tapioca Starch], Maltodextrin, Tomato Powder (3%), Flavourings (contain Celery), Dried Vegetables (6%) (Red Pepper, Mushrooms, Leek), Sugar, Demerara Sugar, Salt, Ground Spices (Chilli Powder, Coriander, Ginger), Citric Acid, Dried Coriander, Palm Oil
Vietnamese Beef Pho Rice Noodle Pot:
Rice Noodles 67% [Rice Flour, Tapioca Starch], Maltodextrin, Beef Stock (5%) [Yeast Extract, Beef Extract, Salt], Flavourings (contain Celery), Dried Red Pepper (2.6%), Potato Starch, Dried Mushrooms (1.3%), Sugar, Garlic Powder, Dried Spring Onion, Ground Spices (Ginger, Chilli Powder, Cinnamon, Black Pepper), Salt, Chinese Five Spice [Salt, Star Anise, Onion Powder, Sugar, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, Ginger, Fennel, Clove, Garlic Powder], Dried Leek, Dried Coriander, Caramelised Sugar Powder
The concept is simple, the pot contains a ball of rice noodles and a sachet which provides the flavouring. You pour the sachet over the noodles and fill to the marked line with boiling water, pop the lid back on and wait for 4 minutes. I took one to work and it was great to have something different, we don’t have a kitchen at work so I can’t take in anything to be microwaved. The noodles cooked well and the sauce had a nice kick to it.
The noodle pots are £1.99 and contain about 250 calories a serving. I would buy these products again as I always like to have a handy convenience product at work and in the house that is gluten and dairy free.
Good job Ilumi, keep expanding your product range – you can buy the noodle snack pots in Asda or on Ilumi’s website: click here
