Gluten & Dairy Free French Toast with Sausage and Tomato Chutney

French Toast

A dairy and gluten free take on traditional french toast. This can be made using shop bought dairy and gluten free bread (I use Fria bread) or it can be made using my recipe for Sandwich Bread.

My Tomato, Red Onion and Chilli chutney recipe is a great chutney to use in this dish.

A sweet cinnamon and summer fruit version of this recipe is also included on the website if you have prefer a sweet treat for breakfast.

Enjoy!

Aunty Mary’s Fruit Cake – Gluten & Dairy Free Version

Aunty Mary

This recipe has been adapted from my Grandma’s Aunt’s recipe to be gluten and dairy free. This fruit cake is always very popular in our family and had been passed down the generations. After I had to stop eating gluten and dairy I started working on a ‘free from’ version, so this is the recipe for Aunty Mary’s fruit cake.

Now I have the caramel sauce I’ll upload some dairy and gluten recipes you can use it in; caramel shortcake, banoffee pie etc.

Spotlight On …. Pudology

Pudology

I’m planning on adding a product review section to the website. When I was first diagnosed I bought a lot of products that were only a little like there ‘normal’ equivalents. Conversely, I have also tasted a lot of great products for people with special dietary requirements and would like to share my thoughts on them.

This takes me to today’s review of Pudology. If you haven’t sampled one of there puddings I can tell you unequivocally, you are missing out. All of their ‘puds’ are dairy free, gluten free and suitable for vegans. Pudology was created by Lucy Wager, herself intolerant to dairy and egg, who realised there were very few treats for people with food allergies.

The puds come in the following varieties:

  • Chocolate Orange Pud – a smooth chocolate and orange ganache
  • Strawberry Pud – a crunchy layer of biscuit topped with creamy strawberry and coconut
  • Banoffee Pud – layers of crunchy biscuit, toffee and banana sauce topped with chocolate ganache
  • Lemon Pud – Creamy, zesty lemon and coconut dessert
  • Chocolate Pud – Smooth chocolate ganache

The puddings are stocked by Sainsburys, Waitrose, Selfridges and some independent retailers.
