Gluten and Dairy Free Flour Substitutes

GF Flour

Gluten and Dairy Free Plain Flour Mix

You can either buy a made up plain flour mix or make your own. I use the Orgran All Purpose Gluten and Dairy Free Plain Flour mix. It contains maize starch, tapioca flour and rice flour. This flour is a great store cupboard basic which I use for pancakes, pastry, biscuits and cookies.

Gluten and Dairy Free Self-Raising Flour Mix

Again, you can either buy a made up self-raising flour mix or make your own. I use the Orgran All Purpose Gluten and Dairy Free Self-Raising Flour Mix. It contains maize starch, tapioca flour and rice flour plus raising agents. I use this flour for the majority of the cakes I bake and it creates a tasty, light result.

Gluten and Dairy Free Bread Flour

A bread flour mix is handy for making sandwich bread, crusty baguettes, bagels, cinnamon buns and pasta. I use the Orgran Gluten and Dairy Free Easy Bake Bread Mix which contains maize starch, tapioca flour and rice flour plus the specific raising agents required for bread making.

Brown Rice Flour

A naturally gluten and dairy free flour made from finely milled rice, makes great tortilla wraps and banana bread.

Potato Flour

Naturally gluten free this flour can be used as a thickener or in baking to give cakes a soft moist texture.

Corn Flour

Also called corn starch or maize, this is the starch derived from corn/maize grain. Naturally gluten free it is used as a great thickener in recipes.
